Here's a new freebie Christmas background for you, using reindeer images from Cesstrelle's Holiday Paper Pack 3. Isn't this fun? Perfect for someone who wants a modern image with a bit of an edge.

This will fit most templates: 3-col, wide 2-col and also some of the freebie WordPress templates like Bueno. It will also fit some of the freebie Tumblr blog templates, eg: Redux. The Blogger template I've used here is Awesome.

HORROR SHOW 2011 - freebie background from my Blogology blog

Here's my Halloween background (also for any Goths, horror movie fans etc) which I've tweaked for 2011 - the background is wider to accommodate bigger monitors (it's 1800 pixels wide) and with extra helpings of horror added, lol. This will work for the new Designer templates, the old templates and also several of the freebie WordPress templates (eg: Bueno, Coraline) and TypePad's Theme Builder template.

One background - two colourways! As you can see, this works for a 3-colum blog - also the new Designer Templates.

The pink colourway uses one of the Designer Templates (Awesome No 2) which I then adjusted to tone in with my background design. This template will also work with some free WordPress templates (eg: Bueno) as well as the older Blogger templates (eg: Minima - below, using the background in the blue colourway). It will also work with wide 2-col blogs etc (as shown in the blue option below).

This colourway shows a template from the old Editor - Minima, modified to a wider layout, so you can see how the same background design (although a different colourway) can work on different templates. The header is a png file as it has a transparent background with a drop shadow, so for best results use the code below rather than left-click for the full size, and right-click to copy to your computer. If you want to add your own text, download the png and add text using your favourite graphics programme. MERGE the layers (don't flatten) and save as a png before reloading, or you'll end up with a white background instead of a transparent one.

The header is 950px wide, so try saving without clicking the 'size to fit blog' option first, and if it's too big then reload it, clicking the option.

TIP:

If loading the header using my code, just make sure you wait long enough for the image to load. You should see it in the preview pane BEFORE you click 'Save.
If you feel your text is too far to one side, or you use the default Blogger text and it looks too high up, then use my tutorial to adjust.

A nice comfortable background - just a touch of Victoriana, where any book lover can settle right in with a favourite novel and a nice cup of tea.

Thanks to Cajoline for some lovely elements (chair, cup & saucer, lamp and coffee table).

This background is perfect for standard Minima 3-col and wide 2-col templates and will also fit nicely with some of the new Designer templates I've suggested (see my tutorial - tab under the header).

This header will fit Stretch templates (don't shrink to fit when installing) and as it has a fancy edging, will look at its best if installed using the image code. If you want to customise the lettering, download to your computer and add the font layer then merge, and upload to Photobucket, Flickr etc - this will keep the background transparent and you won't get that horrible white rectangle!

This will prevent a white background, which Blogger sometimes does automatically. If your blog already has a white background, no probs, but if you have a coloured background you may prefer the snowflakes to look as though they are suspended in space!

HOW TO INSTALL MY HEADERS

You want to install one of my headers! How nice - I'm so pleased.

1. Left-click to bring up the full-size header.
2. Right-click to save the header to your computer.
3. Follow the instructions below.

Go to Layout > Page Elements and click on EDIT in the Header section.

You can click Shrink to fit, which will size the header appropriately for your blog - although I size my headers to fit, so you shouldn't need to (unless putting them on a different background template - I use Minima).

Either click Behind title & description to use Blogger's own fonts and colours OR If you use a graphics programme, add a text layer with your own titling etc, and click Instead of title and description.

HEADERS: TRANSPARENT BACKGROUNDS (pngs)

For headers with a transparent background that have been saved as a png, they will show best if you use my image code (provided) or save to your computer, add your text as a separate layer and MERGE the image - don't flatten it or the background will turn white.

Upload to Photobucket (free image hosting).

Copy the image code and upload the image into the Header box, ticking From The Web (in Layout view, above).

Save, and you're done!

HOW TO ADD A BLOGGER BACKGROUND

Here's the easy way to change your Blogger background.

This works best on a Minima background - so the first thing you need to do is save your template before you do anything (then if it all goes wrong, you won't lose anything).

If you want a 3-column background, then Minima is the best one to choose (it's the easiest to adapt).

Back up your blog before you do anything if you are new at this, and of a nervous disposition!

Go Layouts > Add a Gadget at the bottom of your blog - this actually helps the blog to load faster (and you aren't likely to delete the box by mistake when adding buttons etc).

Click HTML/JavaCode box - this is where you are going to add the code for the background template.

Copy&paste the code into this box, Save - and that's it! Go and admire.

If you don't like it, just click to open the box again, and press Remove.
